Cinedigm and Drafthouse Films announce the release of THE KEEPING ROOM on Digital Download HD now and on Bluray and DVD February 2, 2016.
THE KEEPING ROOM is powerful and intense Western thriller set during the Civil War about three Southern women fighting for their lives over one long night as they are targeted and attacked by two renegade soldiers bent on revenge. Starring Brit Marling (Arbitrage, The East), Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit, Pitch Perfect 2), Sam Worthington (Avatar, Clash of the Titans) and newcomer Muna Otaru.

The Keeping Room screened as an Official Selection at Toronto, London and Boston Film Festivals and has been praised by leading critics for is original depiction of the American Western genre.  Based on Julia Hart’s revered 2012 Black List screenplay, and directed by Academy Award® Nominated Daniel Barber (Harry Brown), The Keeping Roomis a tense and uncompromising tale of survival that also shatters both gender and genre conventions.
In this radically reimagined American Western set toward the end of the Civil War, Southerner Augusta (Marling) encounters two renegade, drunken Union soldiers (Worthington and Kyle Soller, BBC’s “Poldark,”)who are on a mission of pillage and violence. After escaping an attempted assault, Augusta races back to the isolated farmhouse that she shares with her sister Louise (Steinfeld) and their female slave Mad (Otaru). When the pair of soldiers track Augusta down intent on exacting revenge, the trio of women are forced to take up arms to fend off their assailants, finding ways to resourcefully defend their home and themselves as the escalating attacks become more unpredictable and relentless.
Bonuses: “The Making of THE KEEPING ROOM”; commentary with actress Brit Marling and screenwriter Julia Hart.
