You’re a Mean One, Mr. Bricks:

Troma’s Heavy Metal Murder Musical Makes Les Misérables Look Like Mary Poppins!

Mr. Bricks

December 11th, 2012, New York, NY – Greetings from Tromaville! Just as Troma’s ground-breaking musicals such as Lloyd Kaufman’s Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead and Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s Cannibal! The Musical have become Christmas favorites across the land, fans will celebrate this holiday season with Mr. Bricks: A Heavy Metal Murder Musical, Troma’s darkest and most disturbing film since Buddy Giovinazzo’s Combat Shock!

Mr. Bricks, directed by Travis Campbell and produced by Justin Martell, premiered and received a standing ovation at Spain’s prestigious Sitges Film Festival. During its limited theatrical release, the film played at renowned venues such as the Alamo Drafthouse and the San Diego Comic-Con. In addition to featuring Motörhead’s latest hit “Outlaw,” the group’s legendary front man Lemmy Kilmister has hailed Mr. Bricks as a “maniacal metal ride from start to finish…that fires on all headbanging cylinders” and declared to fans, “You must see this film!”

Brutality has a new name, and it’s Mr. Bricks. Mr. Bricks: A Heavy Metal Murder Musical introduces tattooed muscleman Tim Dax (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) as Mr. Bricks, an ex-con left for dead in an empty New York City warehouse. Rocked by headaches caused by the bullet lodged in his brain, he pieces together memories – the barrel of a gun…his girl’s scream…and eventually, the face of the dirty cop (Vito Trigo, Return to Nuke ‘Em High) who pulled the trigger! All he wants is to find his missing girl Scarlet (Nicola Fiore, Slaughter Daughter), and vows to kill anyone that gets in his way…but what if Scarlet doesn’t want to be found?

“Every so often Troma becomes involved in a unique film which differs slightly from the usual Troma aroma and Mr. Bricks should quickly pick up a following among both film and music fans,” says Lloyd Kaufmam, President of Troma Entertainment and creator of the Toxic Avenger. “Mr. Bricks is a bit aberrant in that it is a romantic, dark film much like Buddy Giovinazzo’s Combat Shock.”

Praise for Mr. Bricks:

“Definitely an idea whose time has come.” -Ken Russell, Director (The Who’s Tommy)

“A solid-steel bullet straight to the heart of underground cinema fans, and aimed straight at the balls of any movie fans out there who like film emotion raw as hell.”

“To his immense credit, director/composer Travis Campbell manages to deftly marry the gritty aesthetic of a micro-budgeted old school hardcore records, sinister jazz hands, and the usual campy Troma joie de vivre with a twisting, turning, blood and guts narrative.” – Shawn Macomber, Decibel Magazine

“These newcomers to the industry…have produced something that may put them up on the same steps as Troma graduates James Gunn, Trent Haaga, and Eli Roth”
