Voldemort’s power is growing stronger. He now has control over the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts. Harry, Ron, and Hermione decide to finish Dumbledore’s work and find the rest of the Horcruxes to defeat the Dark Lord. But little hope remains for the Trio, and the rest of the Wizarding World, so everything they do must go as planned.
Far be it for me to kick on something that isn’t but half of a story but you had to see this movie and wait for the other part of it, so that makes it a good target. As it is alone without the second half to go with it, there isn’t much good I can say about Deathly Hallows: Part 1. The movie seems to (and accordingly so) just set the table for a payoff with the next film. Sometimes that can be done right like with the Kill Bill movies and sometimes it can be done with one movie seemingly being a bit lacking, like with this and say for another example the first Attack on Titan movie. Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is a movie that works if you are watching it back to back with part 2, but alone it lacks and I’m sure people to make the mistake of getting this without also having the second part with having some issues with it as well. Sure, it still looks very good in 4K but let’s talk about a storytelling point here for this one for now.
So maybe when all is said and done we have the essential Potter movie for just hardcore and die hard Harry Potter fans. Anyone not in the know won’t be pleased when they run across this film without the second or knowing it is just one part of the story. I don’t think many people will rush out and buy a 4K version of this film without getting the rest so I think most people reading this will be okay and have the second one ready to watch once you’ve seen this one and if that is the case then you get a great transfer and a great set of extras to watch. Once all is said and done, I think Deathly Hallows: Part 1 might just be for the big fans of Harry Potter only. But at least the disc here looks good.
