An innocent afternoon of spying on their parents having sex (and then forcibly sexually assaulting the farm hand) turns even more vile for three daughters when escaped convicts pick their farm to hide from the cops! A horrifying, hardcore afternoon of assault, torture and incest follows as the convicts take advantage of the entire family, culminating in a shocking, perverted game of “Simon Says” and a weirdly mixed and edited final montage. This film is the very definition of “hardcore,” and one of the most eyebrow raising films in the Impulse Pictures library! One of the more notorious hardcore “roughies” of the 1970s, THE FARMER’S DAUGHTERS is a controversial classic. A sick, uncomfortable viewing experience that’s a “grizzly pornographic take on the home invasion LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT style of horror film… an uncomfortable viewing due to its sleazy and socially irredeemable content,” (Ian Jane, Rock! Shock! Pop!). Also notable for starring Spalding Gray (SWIMMING TO CAMBODIA), in one of his three rare hardcore pornography roles, as one of the convicts.
Someone should tell the fine folks over at Synapse that when you get that detailed in the plot description it doesn’t leave much left for me to talk about in the review (just kidding)! I will say this, from the opening country music playing over these ladies watching their parents doing the nasty, you almost feel you’ve stumbled upon a Hee-Haw episode from hell. From that point, yes, we basically see these ladies run around and rape the poor farm-hands, but don’t feel too sorry for them. After all, these ladies are rather hot and could take advantage of me anytime they want. Or at least they could have in 1976, had I actually been born and of age yet, which I wasn’t. It is all fun and sex games until some bad mofos on the run decide to take advantage of not only these girls who were taking advantage of farm boys, but their parents as well. That is about the time this one actually starts walking that line between just a porn to sleazier exploitation flick. This is the part of the film where things actually get pretty darn interesting for more reasons than just the obvious.
Of course this one does eventually take a bit of a violent turn near the end, not that the rape before couldn’t be counted as such, but we do get just a little bit of blood. You know, overall, I like this type of erotic film way better than I do most, just because it does have at least something that looks like a real plot. This one even has some plot twists to it and that only helps get it some better points overall. Sure, a sex scene is nice, but doesn’t some sorta glue to hold it together make it a much more fun watch? It is a rather short and to the point film, so you get an onslaught of sex scenes, a little plot, more sex, and then some more development all at a rather quick pace. If you like a little substance to the erotic style, then you can probably have a lot of fun with something like The Farmer’s Daughters. I liked it better than most porn films I’m sent and that says a lot on its own.
