A grim, violent, and suspenseful survival thriller crossed with a biker film, TRIP WITH THE TEACHER was the sole feature directorial effort from acclaimed choreographer and dancer, Earl Barton, and co-stars Robert Gribbin (Don’t Go Near the Park), Dina Ousley, and Cathy Worthington. Atmospherically photographed and tightly edited, TRIP is an unforgettable grindhouse masterpiece that’s making its Blu-ray debut from Vinegar Syndrome, newly restored from its original camera negative.

All seems well for these young girls, their teachers, and their bus driver at first in this retro film that is finally making its way to Blu-ray thanks to Vinegar Syndrome. But soon the light-hearted nature of things take a bit of a bad turn when they run across some folks on bikes, one of which appears to be drugged out of his mind. One accidental death later and we have a hostage situation with these lovely ladies facing all sorts of exploitation cliches. Driven by a performance I can only call erratic from Zalman King, this is a movie that starts off a little slow but soon picks up once he is on the screen. His overacting then becomes the film, more or less. We have T and A, of course, but this is what you are here to see regardless if you know it going into it or not.

The movie is filled with some women that are easy on the eyes, the fun to watch the performance as I noted already, and a plot of some altercation that just goes more and more out of control. This is a true drive-in movie in just about every step of the way. Or maybe it would be better served in a theater with sticky floors at midnight. Regardless, the movie is a good watch and if you’ve grown used to seeing this one pop up from time to time on countless multi-movie sets but you’ve never seen it look as good as this I’m sure. This one might not be a perfect one or even a logical one at times, but it is still worth a watch regardless.
