Rated: UR/Region: 1/1:78/Number of disc: 3
Available from Anchor Bay

UFC pretty much put MMA on the map and they’ve had Blu-ray and DVD releases released by Anchor Bay for a while now! Here as of late, they’ve been placing two events on DVD sets, which also include a bonus disc with all the pre-lim fights from boy cards on it. For this set of UFC 181 and 182, we are heading to Las Vegas for both events. One taking place in December of 2014 and the other in Januar 2015. Now, this is my very first UFC DVD review and I’m not sure if you guys are going into this thing wanting spoilers or not. So, I’m just going to give you a run-down of what is on this release for now and if anyone wants spoilers and fight reviews just let me know. Let us kick this thing off with disc 1…

DISC 1

UFC 181
December 6th 2014
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA

Tale of the Tape: When the card for UFC 181 was being drawn up, everyone assumed it would be headlined between a Middleweight Championship bout between the current champion Chris Weidman and top contender Vitor Belfort. Weidlman went down with a hand injury, so they decided the best way to replace that would be with a UFC Welterweight Title fight between Johnny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler. After then champ, George St. Pierre quit MMA, Hendricks narrowly defeated Lawler to crown a new champ and this fight was made as the rematch.

Other things of note on this card is the UFC Lightweight Title Fight between champion Anthony Pettis and former Strike Force champion, Gilbert Melendez.

This is also the show where UFC announced that wrestler CM Punk had signed on to become a UFC fighter.

UFC 182

Tale of the Tape: This whole show was sold on the fight between UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and challenger Daniel Cormier. There was a few other fights that were and weren’t attached to this show, but rest a sure everyone who bought this PPV paid their money for this event to see THIS fight. And, why not? These two traded insults, jobs, on TV, press conferences, and basically everything they could voice their opinion on, making this one of the most anticipated fights in UFC history!
