“Send In The Clowns” – The 10 Scariest Clowns in Fiction

10: Twisty (American Horror Story)

American Horror Story: Cult hits DVD on the 18th, was nominated for an EMMY, and had a creepy clown segment of its own that you can see here!

but one can’t forget our friend Twisty that became an instant hit when he showed up on the show.

09: Killer Klowns (Killer Klowns from Outer Space)

For this spot, we’re just going to count the whole clown group as a single entry. I mean, how could anyone really pick between these clowns?

08: Killjoy (Killjoy)

Let’s be honest, while you probably remember the Trent Hagga version when you think of Killjoy and with good reason, the original Killjoy might be the creepiest by far.

07: Captain Spaulding (The Devil’s Rejects)

Perhaps the good Captain that we saw in both House of 1,000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects is pretty iconic, but he’d probably be higher on the list if he wasn’t so darn funny.

06: Gurdy the Clown (100 Tears)

Adding indie horror street cred to the list is Gurdy from 100 Tears. Probably the clown with the most blood behind him if nothing else.

05: Clown Doll (Poltergeist)

Who said all of the clowns have to be alive on this list? Then again, are we sure this one isn’t? Regardless it was nightmare fuel for anyone who has seen it.

04: Violator (Spawn)

Longtime fans of Spawn will probably agree that in live action form or in the animated Spawn series form, Violator was very memorable and very creepy.

03: The Trio of Clown (Clownhouse)

All the drama behind the film means we may never see this one in HD, but you can’t deny the creepy factor our trio of clowns has in this one.

02: Art the Clown (Terrifer)

We first got a look at Art in the horror anthology All Hallows Eve and I feel after seeing Terrifer that we’ll be seeing a whole lot more of him down the road.

01: Pennywise (IT)

No matter if you are taking the O.G. Pennywise from the 1990 movie or the newer version, Pennywise has become one of the most popular horror characters around. He’s also the creepiest clown in all the horror world in my humble opinion.
