Odds and Ends (10/30/09) *Halloween-Eve Edition*

It’s Halloween-eve! And here at the “Zombies DON’T Run” blog I am kicking off the day with news! news!..and some rambling.

Well it is “Halloween-Eve” if you will as I set in front of the PC at 3 a.m. with the wind blowing outside and rain pouring and all the old school horror movie weather stuff you can think of. I just hope I’m not blown away before I get this posted..So lets get on it shall we??

Oh yeah…and I soooo have “Dead Man’s Party” by Oingo Boingo on repeat!

Now for the NEWS!

Friday the 13th Sequel Not Locked In Yet
Friday the 13th II has been announced with a August 13th, 2010 release date. However, words from Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller seem to indicate that it hasn’t been greenlit yet. According to his twitter page, Fuller states: “Still hoping for some good news that will take us back to Crystal Lake”. Damian Shannon and Mike Swift are currently working on the script.

Well you know, personally I’d rather them hold off and maybe get a good script this time before they dive right into another Friday movie. Maybe if the next one actually looks like something new and not just a recycle version of what we’ve already seen in the old movies?

Plot Details For Alien Prequel
According to Empire Online, who caught up with Ridley Scott at a premiere, the new Alien prequel will not revolve around the story of how the aliens found their way to LV-426, the infested planet that John Hurt and Sigourney Weaver discovered in the first film. Here is what Scott had to say…

“It’s a brand new box of tricks, we know what the road map is, and the screenplay is now being put on paper.’

“The prequel will be a while ago. It’s very difficult to put a year on Alien, but [for example] if Alien was towards the end of this century, then the prequel story will take place 30-years prior.”

“I never thought I’d look forward to a sequel. But a prequel is kind of interesting. I’m looking forward to doing that.”

Well hey! Might as well be somewhat happy it isn’t a reboot right??

Rob Zombie Finishes Halloween 2: Director’s Cut

Rob Zombie made the following announcement on his TWITTER, regarding the director’s cut of Halloween II.

“Halloween 2 director’s cut is finally done. Very different than the theatrical version.”

Well I liked the Director’s cut of his first Halloween movie. Perhaps if they’d put the cuts in the theaters they’d go over a lot better? That and stop cursing for the sake of cursing.

Men In Black III Moving Forward
According to Variety, Columbia Pictures has hired Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder) to write the script for Men In Black III. The studio is looking to start filming the third installment in 2010, but as of now, director Barry Sonnenfeld and stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones do not have deals to return to the franchise that made nearly $1.1 billion worldwide.

You know what I think? No Smith, no Jones, no way I’m seeing it.

Now to the rambling part of today’s odds and ends!

* Well it looks like Paranormal Activity is now the biggest profit earning movie of all time. The film that took 15K to make has brought in over 60 million..Someone somewhere is VERY happy I’m sure. Maybe it’ll show some companies that less is more sometimes. See kids? You don’t hafta spend 60 million to make 60 million!

* I’m really really wanting something new on TV this Halloween. I love the classics, it wouldn’t be Halloween without them but can we toss in something new?? And I don’t mean a new horror movie I mean a new classic.

* “Night of the Creeps” FINALLY made it’s way to DVD Tuesday and sadly I have yet to get a copy of it. And with the way things go around here from now until December I get in money saver mode for X-mas so I probably won’t have this until Christmas Day! If I have the will power to hold off that long..don’t be shocked if it’s in my DVD player by the end of the weekend.

* I got to give major (mad) props to anyone in the blogging business..if you really can call it that because lets be honest here, we do it cause we love this stuff and it’s fun, but that being said it’s really a task to get people to read your blog. You gotta start at the bottom kids and work your way up. So just keep on keeping on and such. I’m by no means an expert at this (as you see by my ranking) but you gotta start somewhere right? I actually had this blog for a couple years and had tried different things with it before I finally just said “screw it! I’m doing what I WANT to do with it” but now I’m happy to say I’m happy with it. I looked into actually getting the .com for Zombies DON’T Run but it’s sadly taken..yet inactive. Sure I could go for the .net but isn’t a .com sooo much cooler??

Well I’m outty (cool word for the day) I’m sure I’ll have stuff for you guys later so keep checking in!
