Operation Condor 2: The Armour of God (1986)
Director: Jackie Chan
Where to get it: Echo Bridge
Jackie is back and the action is hotter than ever as a hard-hitting fortune hunter whose ex-girlfriend is kidnapped and held for ransom by an evil cult. Then, things really kick into high gear when her fiancé, an old friend of Jack’s, turns to him for help in finding and delivering the kidnappers’ lone demand: the priceless Armour of God. Performing his own death-defying stunts, there’s no stopping Jackie as he—with the help of a sexy woman and a hilarious sidekick—attacks his mission with a lethal mix of pulse-pounding action and side-splitting humor.
You may or may not know that this film is actually the original film in this series and not the sequel. In the states the REAL sequel came first and was just titled Operation Condor. So when the second came out later it was titled part two when in fact it was part one. Confused? Well that’s OK because it isn’t even important. What is important is the action and this film is Jackie Chan to a tee. There is comedy, there is a little bit of romance, and there is a whole lot action. Jackie, who character is named Asian Hawk, is in true form here. And it’s your typical action film at heart. And that means it’s just a whole lot of fun.
You might think if you’ve seen one Jackie Chan film you have seen them all, but that’s not entirely the case. As always, Jackie is risking life and limb to really do the stunts in this movie and those stunts really make it what it is. It’s pretty clear to spot a major Indiana Jones vibe with this one. But I don’t recall Jones ever kicking this much ass as Mr.Chan does in this cool film from the 80s (Even if it didn’t see America til the 90s). And rest a sure, while not perfect by any means, the Blu-ray transfer isn’t too shabby either.
