Remembering USA's Saturday Nightmares

Well kids it’s time for me to show my old age of 26 by giving you another one of those “when I was a kid” tails. This time I want to talk about a show I’d watch in the 80’s and early 90’s called Saturday Nightmares!

Saturday Nightmares ran..well on Saturday night on the USA network back when the USA network was cool. Sure they still had WWE Wrestling (then called WWF) but they also had some cool shows that showed some good B level horror movies as well. Another cool USA show that comes to mind was Up All Night (We’ll go into that another day) but for now we’ll stick with what we started with. SeeĀ  friends on Saturday Nights the USA network was THE place to be at 8 p.m. (7 central)

To go with the horror and sci-fi movies like The Brood, Firestarter, House, (not to mention the big boys like Halloween and Friday the 13th) they showed episodes of The New Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Hitchhiker, and The Ray Bradbury Theater..Needless to say it was always a fun night, especially when you are a kid and this stuff came across as incredibly creepy. I mean heck, even the show’s opening gave me the creeps!

And what did they have to save time in between shows? Short films that were just as spooky as the full length stuff!

Now if you missed out on this grand time of cable T.V. then allow me to show you what you were missing with the show’s opening AND the short film The Dummy that freaked me out as a kid.

They don’t make stuff like this anymore my friends..and it’s a darn shame…Oh the memories!
