Frank Leone is nearing the end of his prison term for a relatively minor crime. Just before he is paroled, however, Warden Drumgoole takes charge. Drumgoole was assigned to a hell-hole prison after his administration was publicly humiliated by Leone, and has now arrived on the scene to ensure that Leone never sees the light of day.

I happen to believe that Lock Up is one of the more underrated Stallone movies you’ll find out there and as a result, I’m happy to see it getting the 4K treatment with this release. This one came during a prime time for Stallone movies and it is a gem if you are into his stuff! Here we see Stallone playing a character that is fighting against the man! And you’ll find he is winning for the most part in this underrated Stallone film from 1989. We have all the elements in this film that made us love Stallone films. While it’s not Over the Top or Cobra, any action fan who likes a good battle in prison will enjoy it. He’s got an evil warden and a whole list of bad guys to deal with while locked up. You can probably already tell that he’s going to take care of things in the high action late 80’s way that we all know and love.

You might have to turn your brain off for a few reasons, one of which is a pretty big one. Not the over the top ways Stallone rushes into action, but the fact we have a darn body shop in prison. Other than that, it’s what you come to expect with some cartoon villains and Stallone trying his best to give you what you came to see. You get that for the most part. You also get a great looking 4K release here with more details than the old Blu-ray and way better color range. We also have some interviews in the extras that I find very interesting. So, you get an upgrade from the old Blu-ray, you actually do get a good cast, and you some good ol’ fashion American violence. This is a fun one!
