Ivan Danko (Arnold Schwarzengger) is a Russian cop sent to Chicago to extradite a Russian drug-dealer named Viktor Rostavili (Ed O’Ross), wanted for murder back in the USSR. When Danko and his prisoner are ambushed by Viktor’s gangland friends the Russian escapes, and a veteran police officer is killed. His partner, Ridzik (James Belushi), who like Danko now has a personal vendetta against Rostavili, joins forces with the soviet cop to hunt down the escapee and his gunmen. Also starring Peter Boyle, Laurence Fishburne and Gina Gershon.

All 80’s action movies are pretty much the same just with some key plot points remixed. This is basically a better version of Red Scorpion with Arnold Schwarzenegger front and center doing what he does best. I won’t lie and tell you that there is ever any question to how things are going to end up in this one, but I will say it was still a good deal of fun getting from point A to Z. Especially when you add in the duo of Arnold Schwarzenegger with James Belushi. As much as I’m a fan of Arnold I’ve always been a fan of Belushi as well and the two mixes together pretty well even if we are just doing a paint by the numbers movie by all 80’s action standards.

So people die, things get blown up and blown to bits, and we manage to stop for a nice laugh or two along the way. That isn’t a bad way to kill some time. It also looks pretty solid here in 4K which is something you can never be too sure about. But we’ve seen 4K really get some good stuff out of some older movies as of late and this is another case of that. Red Heat isn’t the best movie you’ll find that features either Arnold Schwarzenegger or James Belushi but this is a fun movie with some nice moments and a nice pace. So, if you like action, I see no reason why you shouldn’t like this one.
