Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) stars as a woman on the edge in this intense psychological thriller. Having suffered a tragic loss years earlier, Lizzie (Rapace) is trying to rebuild her life when she suddenly becomes obsessed with a neighbor’s daughter, believing the girl to be her own child. As Lizzie’s shocking, threatening acts grow increasingly dangerous, they lead to an explosive confrontation with the girl’s angry, defensive mother (Yvonne Strahovski, “The Handmaid’s Tale”).

This movie has a bit of a depressing tone to it and that may or may not be what sells it or breaks it at the end of the day. The movie at least stayed interesting from the jump and kept me guessing until the very end. That’s another plus as well. I also think the acting was solid in it by and when you have all of those things going for something you are probably at least going to be recommended. There was one nude scene in it that some people seem to have an issue with and feel was a bit forced but if you ever see the day that I’m complaining about something like you should probably take me behind the barn and shoot me. This movie was watchable and unpredictable and that’s why it is what it is. The nudity doesn’t hurt.

This could be a movie that some find a bit uncomfortable to watch in spots. For that reason alone I can’t give it a wide recommendation. I think some of the best movies out there are uncomfortable in spots but this one was just good and also happens to back some of that stuff so it makes it a bit of a tough cookie to digest. It’s not a typical movie and that is what I’d call a good thing. Still, I give it credit and say it’s worth the good once over but I don’t think it’s the type of movie you’ll see people re-watching a lot.
