The Atlantean child Orin, son to the Queen of Atlantis (Nicole Kidman), was abandoned as an infant and left to die; however, he was rescued and raised by a kindly lighthouse keeper. The keeper (Temuera Morrison) adopted the boy as his own son, renaming him Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa). Able to survive the harshest depths of the ocean and on the surface world above, the child of two worlds grew to be a hero to both eventually returning to Atlantis to become their King in addition to being a founding member of the Justice League as Aquaman!

The DC Universe of movies seems to be changing drastically. But if there were two things they seem to have gotten right it was Wonder Woman and Aquaman. Aquaman is another step into the more light-hearted area for DC, taking a turn away from the doom and gloom some of the original films in this group had. You could say it’s a page out of the Marvel playbook, but whatever you call it you have to admit that it works and it works well. Aquaman is a fun action movie that is enjoyable for everyone. It has a cool setting, a fun plot, and has a great casting in the lead role with Jason Momoa. He makes Aquaman cool and if you have read any of the old comics then you will be well aware that Aquaman wasn’t always cool…Not at all. This movie hits a home run in that casting and it mixes a very odd mix of people here into a very good action adventure movie.

I won’t try to say that every little thing work that we have here. But given the type of movie, it is I don’t think logic is a thing anyone who comes into this thing will be looking for. James Wan is a great director. He managed to bring on a whole wave of films in horror and add even more fun to Fast and the Furious. He might not reinvent the wheel with this one but he makes a very solid movie that I’m sure will be bringing on more sequels. No matter what happens with the DCU going forward I think we’ll be seeing the same Wonder Woman and Aquaman in the mix and this movie has made sure of that. This one comes to 4K with a great looking transfer, as I’m sure you guys expected. It also has a whole list of extras that are also fun to dive into after you’ve watched the movie.
