When the 1989 “one-hit-wonder” glam-metal band “Sonic Grave” embark on a trip to Coachella in hopes of a comeback, their peyote trip pit stop in Joshua Tree incites an “unworldly” vicious attack, and they must “rock” themselves out of harm’s way.

The movie Dead Ant is pretty hilarious and I’m actually kind of shocked at how well I ended up enjoying. Some times you can look at something and question if that will be your cup of tea or not and here, in this case, I took some advice from friends, watched it, and actually enjoyed it. The story follows a band that hasn’t had a hit in a very long time. So they travel out in the middle of nowhere with the intentions of taking some high powered dope and writing a hit song. They end up not taking the advice from the Indian that sold the stuff to them, disrespecting the land by killing an ant, and then having to face an army of CGI ants that art beyond pissed off and getting bigger every single time they kill one. It does sound silly and it is a bit silly, but it’s also a fun watch so I’m semi-singing its praises here in this review.

You get a good cast, you get some violence and some comedy. The only real complaint I could have here is the CGI. But I guess heading into a movie called Dead Ant we all kind of knew we were heading into a movie that was going to be high on cheesy effects. Sadly, some of the blood is also CGI and that will be what hurts this one the most. But on the other hand, we have some nudity too that comes at us straight out of the gate, so maybe we just have to take the good with the bad when it comes to this one. If you like a little over the top madness with your horror films, you could do a whole heck of a lot worse than Dead Ant. I think it’s fun, never dull, and packs a lot of the elements I like in my horror movies so it’s a winner from me and I say you need to be sure to check it out.
