Four female convicts break out of prison, and during their escape, they take hostage a bus full of young female tennis players. They drive the bus to the house of the judge who originally sent them to prison, where–since this is, after all, a women-in-prison picture–the hostages undergo various forms of physical and sexual abuse in various degrees of nudity.

Escape from a Women’s Prison is a movie that has a very accurate name even if you can’t tell it by the cover. It takes all those elements you are normally seeing in a women in prison movie and takes it actually out of the prison and turns it into a much more broad caper of sorts. These women have run off and decided to kidnap a whole team of tennis playing ladies. So in the middle of what you normally are seeing in these types of films, we have a whole new creative reason to get basically the same thing but get it outside the jail. There’s gunplay, violence, and you better believe we also have time for some erotic stuff to go along with everything else. It wouldn’t be a woman in prison (even with them out of prison) and an Italian movie if it didn’t have that whole erotic side to it as well. You probably have just as much sex as you do murder here with a boob count going head to head with the body count. I’m sure that alone makes a bunch of you reading this want to go click that trusty “buy now” button.

If the normal version isn’t Italian enough for you, this even comes with an Italian cut of the film titled “Le Evase”. This among other things kills the dub and has the English subtitles. It has about what you’d expect but even with it being the movie in the truest form I think I still prefer the American cut. It packs violence and sleaze but seems to get to the point a lot faster. This movie isn’t the best women on the run or women “in prison” film I’ve seen, but it is at least fun and basically plays out as a by the numbers guide to what these types of movies usually pack. For more insight on just that type of thing, you’ll also find an interview with the director here as well in the extras. For better or for worse, Escape from a Women’s Prison is what you expect it to be minus the actual prison. It isn’t really “my” type of movie, but I can enjoy it enough for what it is.
