Based on a true story, Fighting with My Family follows reformed gangster Ricky, wife Julia, daughter Paige, and son Zak as they make a living wrestling together in tiny venues. When Paige and Zak get the opportunity to try out for WWE, the family grabs a once-in-a-lifetime chance to turn their wildest dreams into a dazzling future. However, brother and sister quickly discover that to become superstars, both their talent and their relationship will be put to the test.

Fighting with my Family is a true story about how a girl named Saraya Knight aka Paige grew up with a family full of wrestlers in the UK. She then makes her way up to the big time with WWE. I’m a big-time wrestling fan and I know all about WWE and about Paige as well, from her indie wrestling days to when she busted on the scene in WWE’s NXT. I’m not going to say that this movie is 100% accurate with all that went on with Paige, but I will say that the movie still manages to tell the story close enough, all the while keeping it extremely funny and entertaining. I’m sure things are way more lightly toned here in his version of Paige’s story than it would have been in real life, so I actually at times just zone out on who the story is supposed to be about and just take it for what it is and take it as being its own thing and I enjoyed it a great deal by just simply turning off my big wrestling filled brain and just letting the movie run. I think a lot of hardcore wrestling fans will enjoy the movie that way. If nothing else it helps cover up all the inaccurate stuff that goes around Paige’s big match with The Divas Champion.

Anyone else coming into this one, you’ll be golden. If you don’t really know too much about WWE and you just want to see a comedy that has both The Rock and Vince Vaughn in it you will find the laughs you came here to get. You’ll also be praising the cast as everyone here does a fine job and certainly does their part. Florence Pugh does a great job as the lead and you can’t help but cheer her on as the story goes along and we see her interacting with both wrestlers and with her family. It’s fun stuff and it’s way better I think than most folks thought it was going to be heading into it. Fighting with my Family crosses over the line to be a worthy watch not just for fans of pro wrestlers but for fans of good movies in general and I think everyone would have a good time if they take the time to check it out.
