Hotel Inferno (2013) (DVD REVIEW)
Directed By: Giulio De Santi
STARRING: Rayner Bourton, Michael Howe, Jessica Carroll
AVAILABLE FROM Wild Eye Releasing

The contract killer Frank Zimosa has just been hired for a ridiculously lucrative mission by the rich and powerful Jorge Mistrandia. The objective: to kill a couple of people hiding in one of his European hotels. What would look like one of the simplest jobs Frank has ever had is just about to turn into a living nightmare. He will soon realize he’s nothing more than prey for Mistrandia and his army of crazy henchmen that have hiding in the hotel along with an ancient and unstoppable horror. In their hotels, you can only rent rooms….in Hell!

While Hardcore Henry might be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a first-person movie, horror fans will want to see Hotel Inferno. Here in this story, a hitman takes a job that turns out to be nothing like what he thought it would be and the end results is him fighting for his life with buckets and gallons of blood everywhere. From what I gather this format actually pre-dated Hardcore Henry, so this is the movie that should be getting the attention when it comes to this filming style. It also goes very well here with the horror formate and makes you almost feel like you are in a House of the Dead video game or something while you are watching. This is the perfect movie you watch at night and in the dark because with the stuff coming at this guy in the movie it really is creepy and the stuff that nightmares are made of.

The movie is also just about 70 minutes so it never outstays its welcome while you watch. Really, the only issue I can see anyone having with this one could be the shaky camera at times and I’m sure that won’t do well with people who might get motion sickness easily, but other than that this is an interesting horror movie with one of the more creative ways of filming I had seen at the time when I finally did see it. This movie comes to DVD once again from Wild Eye Releasing under their Raw & Extreme label, but this time in the extras it has a secret extra movie (that also runs nearly an hour). So, if you missed this one the first time out, then you should pick this one up because I can’t say enough nice things about this scary and blood movie.
