Last Ones Out (2015) (BLU-RAY REVIEW)

An American man is stranded in the middle of a zombie-infected Africa and must trust the help of three mysterious strangers in order to make it out alive.

If there was another movie appropriate for the time it might just be, Last Ones Out. Here we have a movie about a virus that causes people to turn into zombies and it happens at what might be the worst time ever for the people in the movie. A man goes in for surgery while in another country and when he wakes up everything has changed and people are being killed by infected zombie people! The only hope is for him to find his previous girlfriend there and get everyone who is left alive with him to a helicopter that he has access to. But before they can get there they have to save someone else. The movie has some pretty tense moments and really sort of plays off like a cousin to another zombie movie I saw years ago called The Dead, but only this time with this one, everyone is infected and they are fast-moving for the most part.

I don’t know if I’d call this bunch the most likable bunch I’ve ever seen. Our main male lead is unlikable, the two other guys are mostly dull, but we at least have a good enough female lead. Basically, we aren’t always on the edge of our seats when the stuff is hitting the fan as they head off for their chopper to fly to a safe place. But the movie does hold your attention and it is always nice to see a slightly different set-up for a zombie/infected movie, even if some of the other parts of it seem like other movies we’ve seen before and seen done better. Shudder movies are at least solid and that is about what I can this one is as well.
