After suspecting that their police officer neighbor is a serial killer, a group of teenage friends spend their summer spying on him and gathering evidence, but as they get closer to discovering the truth, things get dangerous.

Summer of 84 is a heck of a movie, folks. Coming at a time when people are all about stuff like Stranger Things, this is like Stranger Things with a little more balls behind it. Why would I say that? Don’t get me wrong I LOVE Stranger Things, but in a movie, like Summer 84 nobody is ever really safe. And YES that goes for kids, which is an area I don’t think the beloved popular show I’m talking about would ever do into. This movie here comes at you with an equally nostalgic number. I was just one year old in 1984 but I love 80s’ movies and this one hits all those familiar notes for people who also love movies during this time. Not only is that all done well and good here but we also have a great plot to go along with it and that plot will keep you on the edge of your seat for a good portion of the movie. You just can never be too sure and you just never know what will happen to next and to who.

Coming from the director group RKSS, a team that going by their movie Turbo Kid knows how to do cool stuff, Summer of ’84 shows us a kid who thinks his cop neighbor might be a crazed killer. That’s when he gets his group of friends in on this and they go into investigating. Wrong or right about their assumption, they are bringing attention to themselves and that is not a good thing for them. This is one heck of a well put together story and I enjoyed it a whole heck of a lot. If you liked Turbo Kid or like stuff like the above-mentioned Stranger Things, then you should have a blast with this one. Just be ready to be on pretty tensed up by the time the credits roll.
