It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are now facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than it can be rebuilt. The battle to defeat the invaders and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet (Chris Pratt), Lucy (Elizabeth Banks), Batman (Will Arnett) and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a galaxy filled with fantastic planets, strange characters, and catchy new songs. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.

The Lego movie keeps on with the sequel of being able to be soo darn fun and entertaining that is jumping the barrier of age and becomes a fun movie for anyone of every age. All the things and characters you loved from the original film are back here as we witness a coming of age film of sorts with Finn now a teen and in the lego world Emmet being forced to try to save the day in what might the Lego apocalypse and among other things save Lucy. In the real world, Finn is looking to crash his sister’s legos to just name one thing and I think if you time these things you’d find we might have more real-world action this time around than we do Lego world. None the less, what happens here is a solid story and it keeps you watching and hits all the right notes no matter if the notes are funny or even a bit heartwarming at times. If you loved the first movie you get what you pay to see here as well and I think kids will easily love it overall.

Now you could argue that what you get here from a story standpoint is a bit predictable and that would be right. But we also have more here than just an excuse to make a giant Lego toy commercial with the movie. I think this one has a lot of heart and good intentions and it manages to put together nice parallel stories between the real world and the Lego world, even if most people are probably here just for the Lego portion of it. As you’d probably guess, the movie looks great in 4K with the Lego world probably shining the most due to the big colors and environment. But don’t sleep on the look of the other portion of the film either. All in all, we have action and comedy mixed with some great characters and a very worthy follow-up to the original. I think most will have a blast with it.
