An Almost True Story: TOXIC TUTU is an homage to the original cult-classic horror-comedy, THE TOXIC AVENGER and explains what became of the “Toxic Avenger’s” Melvin the “Mop Boy”, Mark Torgl.

To call something like Toxic Tutu threw together might be a bit of an understatement. Here we have Mark Torgl who is known for playing Melvin the Mop Boy who gets mutated into Toxie in The Toxic Avenger as he puts together what you could consider being enough of a plot (I guess) while at the Mad Monster Party convention to make this movie. I guess on one hand you could call it a love letter to the Toxic Avenger but I think a straight forward documentary about that movie could have worked much better than the thrown together and shoe-string nature of the narrative this one brings forth. Part half-arse plot and half convention footage, this one at least can be called a different type of movie. But in this case, I’m not sure I’d call the unique ways of this one to be very appealing in the thick of things. I’ll be honest with you, I found this one to be a bit hard to get through, all things considered.

And I don’t want to sit here and talk bad about actor Mark Torgl in this review. You can’t really fault the guy for jumping at the chance to relive those Toxie days and get a legit leading spot in a movie. But the movie here isn’t really much of a movie at all I’m afraid. It becomes a bit of a Frankenstein level of a movie with lots of things being placed together with some editing magic in order to try to pull this one off, but even that doesn’t really work for it. With all due respect to the people in front of the camera and behind the camera, Toxie Tutu is one of the worst things I’ve seen in my ten plus years as a movie reviewer. I know opinions are like buttholes, but I think 99.9% of you won’t be very interested in the end results of this one. And I say that as one of the biggest Toxie fans out there and with lots of love for the heart felt fan and cast portions of this one.
