Teenage crime reporters Sadie and McKayla are hot on the trail of a crazed serial killer. After capturing the maniac and holding him hostage, they soon realize that the best way to boost their social media stardom is to commit the murders themselves.

Tragedy Girls is a horror movie that feels different and it is very different from what you are used to seeing. I know I’m late to the party a bit on this one, but this is very solid stuff. We join two best friends who are luring out a killer that is a little like Jason. They want to learn from him and become serial killers themselves. Well, things never go as planned and conflict comes to a boil as we find ourselves technically following the movie’s bad guys and at times maybe even rooting for them a bit despite how evil they can really be. Things take a few turns, things get pretty bloody, and you can never be too sure on how all of this will end and that makes it one of the better movies I’ve seen in a while.

Our two female leads, Brianna Hildebrand and Alexandra Shipp really sell this one to the viewer. If you’ve seen Brianna Hildebrand in the Deadpool movies then you know a little about what she can do, but here in this one she’s on a whole other level and is showing a whole lot of range. See, things get complex when jealously and a love interest comes between the two girls and it all comes to a head at prom. If you’ve never seen Tragedy Girls before, then by all means you need to give this one a watch. Had I seen it the year it came out I’m sure it would have made my top 10 list at the end of that year.
