Glenn Danzig’s directorial debut, is a horror anthology that compiles stories from Danzig’s line of comic books of the same name. Stories which focus on horror content that’s often sexual and violent in nature, usually featuring scantily-clad female protagonists.

I recently saw Fred Durst direct a horror movie called The Fanatic and while it wasn’t great by any means, I don’t think I’d go as far as to call it awful. Now we have another singer making a horror movie in the form of Glenn Danzig and his movie I’m reviewing here, Verotika. Danzig writes and directs this anthology and from what I’m told this was also based on a comic series that Danzig did. I suppose this might be the best stories taken from that? Well, if this is the best then my goodness I’d hate to see the worst. Now don’t get me wrong, this is a very bad movie. We have three stories here that start with a lady with eyes on her boobs. Once she cries her tears fall on a spider and cause this spider to become a full-grown Goro looking being that sexually harasses and kills women while the girl with the boob eyes sleeps. And that’s probably the best one we have here! From there its the story of a girl killing other girls for their faces and then we end with the age-old story of a queen killing virgins and using their blood and organs to stay young. That last one there is probably the worst storyline-wise but has the best blood.

Is this unwatchable? No, it’s good from the ol’ trainwreck side of things. We do have boobs and we have blood. We also have some of the worst dialogue I’ve ever heard, like for example when this giant spider dude tells a hooker that he’d like to sodomize her in a very fake french accent. So, Danzig might be able to write a song but he is very awkward with the wording for everyone else. But it can still be a very entertaining group watching movie or something for when you are up late at night. That being said, it’s not at all what I’d call a good movie and some of the editing and plot details can hurt your head while you are watching. It gets points for being very weird and for having some nice blood and T & A. That’s all the good things I can say for it sadly.
