Starring: Season Hubley, Gary Swanson, Wings Hauser
Rated: R/Region A/1:85/1080p/Number of Discs 1
Available from Scream Factory

Season Hubley (Hardcore) stars as Princess, a single mom by day, a Hollywood prostitute by night. A volatile cop, Tom Walsh (Gary Swanson, The Guardian) uses her to trap a sadistic pimp named Ramrod (Wings Hauser, Mutant), who murdered one of her friends. But when Ramrod escapes police custody, Princess is in grave danger. No matter which way she turns, Ramrod is coming for her. Walsh and the entire police force are out looking to catch him. Tonight, the neon slime will be on full display and the city of Los Angeles will explode with furious vengeance and violence!

Vice Squad is the most recent Collector’s Edition to come from Scream Factory and it would make a good one-two punch with another Scream Factory release 10 til Midnight. The movie is about a nutjob pimp who after going a little too far with his beating of one of his women brings in the attention of the cops and a hooker who is going to help bring him in. After all, if she doesn’t then she’ll be going to jail for her own crimes. It becomes more of a thriller but does pack some excitement and drama, as well as more than one moment of comedic stuff and violence. The movie is a good watch and is perfect for popping some popcorn and watching. I might have argued that a little more blood for a Scream Factory title would have been nice, but character-wise it has a crazy pimp that seems to fit the bill regardless.

A good cast and some pretty outlandish moments are what really sells this one to me in the end. We have people getting their face shoved through windows one minute, then having to fight and old karate master the next. You just never really know what will come next with this one and that is the strangest thing about it. Scream Factory brings it to Blu-ray with a very good transfer and a nice selection of extras. There are a whole lot of new extras here that are made up of interviews with the cast and crew. If you’ve never seen this one before, it isn’t the most horror-filled movie I’ve ever seen under the Scream Factory banner, but it does bring some good stuff to the table for other reasons.
