Three best friends embark on a road trip to a heavy-metal show, where they bond with three aspiring musicians and head off to one of the girls’ country home for an after-party…But there is a satanic cult killing people also on the loose!

We Summon the Darkness takes place in 1988 and is very heavy-metal based. As a matter of fact, if you are into that sort of music and love the late 80s that might be reason alone to check it out. Me personally, I think the biggest reason to watch this is Alexandra Daddario who is just amazing here and you will remember her character, after all, is said and done if nothing else. None the less, this is a hard one to review because it all starts and is kind of propped up on a bit of a plot twist and I don’t want to spoil it if you haven’t heard of the meat and potatoes of this one just yet. I will, however, say that I guessed what was coming before the movie showed it’s hand and that it might not be that big of a shock to most. If nothing else, the predictability of this one might be the only real thing that holds it back at the end of the day.

But we still have some blood and violence. Ths thing is more or less a horror comedy and that tends to be my favorite combination in a horror film. It makes things a lot less stressful and a little more fun if done right and this one does nail the fun side of things just right. It’s a good mix of horror, comedy, violence, and Satan. We even have Johnny Knoxville here for a bit playing a preacher. We Summon the Darkness doesn’t by any means reinvent the wheel or anything like that, but it’s a fun movie with some good characters and some pretty cool moments involving knives, guns, and other random household items. If you want something with some blood that you can just kick-back and enjoy, this might just be the one for you. It probably doesn’t finish as good as it starts but it’s still pretty darn good.
